Erice is a small town situated on a hilltop at a height 751 m . above sea level, therefore cooler than the surrounding country: we suggest you to take a sweater and a raincoat with you!

Facilities in Erice are limited: a Post Office, a Bank (Banco di Sicilia), a few stores and souvenirs shops.

Lecturers and participants, who have notified in due time date, hour and flight number regarding their arrival, will be picked up at airport ( Palermo or Trapani ) and transferred by private bus or car to Erice. Participants who have failed to provide detailed information about their arrival time may reach Erice by taxi (fare is approximately € 160,00 from Palermo and € 130,00 from Trapani ) and this expense will not be reimbursed.

Upon arrival, all lecturers and participants will have to contact the Secretariat of the Centre (see above address) for the checking-in procedures. At this moment, lecturers and participants will be requested to fill an arrival form and will be informed about the place that the E. Majorana Centre has provided for their accommodation (see next paragraph).Younger participants may be requested to share a twin-bedded room

Lecturers and participants will be housed in one of the ancient monasteries belonging to the Ettore Majorana Foundation and Centre for Scientific Culture: San Domenico, San Francesco, San Rocco (rooms with private bath) or in one of the affiliated hotels.

Guests of hotels will take breakfast at their hotels; guests of monasteries will take breakfast at San Rocco Institute.

Coffee, tea, mineral water, sandwiches and sweet biscuits are available at the lecture hall at San Domenico Institute during the coffee-breaks and at San Rocco Institute all day through. Lunches and dinners will be served at several restaurants connected with the Ettore Majorana Centre. Your signature is kindly requested at the end of your meal.

A social programme will be arranged, as follows:

Erice is paved with medieval large stone cobbles. They may be slippers when wet. Consider this for your shoes and avoid narrow heels for ladies . Hard shoes are best worn during excursions.
