DEAR COLLEAGUES

Major strides in neonatal nephrology in the last several years have had a major impact on the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of fetal and neonatal renal disorders. The cellular and molecular basis of normal and abnormal renal development has advanced considerably, and these discoveries are paving the way to improved management of infants with congenital renal and urinary tract abnormalities. Optimal perinatal management of the infant with such disorders affects not only the pediatric age group, but also long-term renal function and health throughout adulthood. This Workshop on Neonatal Nephrology will gather international experts to discuss the state-of-the-art of this exciting field. Topics to be covered include the measurement of renal function and renal imaging in the fetus and neonate, the response of the developing kidney to stress and injury, clinical management of the affected infant, and the long-term evolution of the perinatal/congenital renal lesions. We welcome your participation!
